About us
We are a group of activists, including Egyptians and internationals living in Egypt. We are working under the umbrella of the Popular Commitee in Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
Though we call for an end to occupation of Palestine in every form our urgent goal is the immediate and comprehensive end to the siege of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
This group was formed during the recent Israeli military onslaught and invasion of Gaza on 27 December 2008, which, continued for 23 days resulting in the deaths of over 1,300 Palestinians and more than 5,000 injured.
Israel’s illegal and indiscriminate use of weapons during the invasion, including the consequently large scale destruction and damage to Palestinian homes and basic civil infrastructure, has produced severe human, health and environmental damage the effects of which will last for generations to come.
At a time when our various governments are impotent in effectively responding to Israel’s repeated criminal assaults on the Palestinian people, we are left with no choice but to turn to all available avenues of protest to express our rejection of the injustice to the Palestinian people, and, particularly, the people of Gaza.
We are asking that all peoples stand in solidarity against this inhumane reality in which the people of Palestine, and particularly those in Gaza, continue to live. Our demands are a reflection of those in keeping with human rights and to which many non-governmental organizations are also demanding. We call for:
• The immediate and comprehensive end to the illegal siege of Gaza and its population;
• The accountability and immediate trial of all Israeli persons who are responsible and/or participated in the carrying out of war crimes against the Palestinian people, including the killing of civilians, the utilization of weapons deemed illegal by international law, and the causing of environmental and health crises;
• The provision of reparations for all damages, including physical, health, environmental and infrastructure, incurred by the Palestinians as a result of Israel’s illegal actions;
• The sanction of the Israeli state;
• Boycott and divestment of all investment and financial relations with Israel.
We also demand of the Egyptian government in particular to:
• Stop the export of subsidized gas to Israel;
• Break all relations with the Israeli state;
• And, to re-asses the Camp David Agreements.
The various governments have thus far been unwilling to put the necessary pressure on Israel to end the illegal occupation of the Palestinian people, including the ongoing siege of Gaza. We- the multitude- stand in solidarity against the injustice of this reality and the ongoing violations to the human rights of the Palestinian people. We unite in calling for the liberation of the Palestinian people and for the end of the illegal siege of Gaza.
